Dear President Obama,
The cannabis users of Australia make the following respectful submission.
Following the Second World War America was the hero of the western world. Americans were all heroes. So it remained in the eyes of the world for many years.
However that respect has recently been a great deal diminished by the seemingly endless and undoubtedly senseless ‘war on drugs’ which the American government has decided to foist upon all the other countries in the world. The drug war and the drug laws it has spawned are a principal reason that many believe that, in the modern age, America has lost its way.
However what has happened in Colorado and Washington State has given us hope Mr President.
The residents of Colorado and Washington State have decided that they cannot stomach the hypocrisy any longer and those of us around the world who take an interest in these matters applaud their stand.
We are ready to love America again Mr Obama. Cannabis users around the world understand that the evils of the current ‘drug war’ are not of your making. But you do hold it within your powers to make a difference. If you really want all the world to believe that America is a beacon of democracy: then just do nothing. Direct Mr Holder to do nothing.
Never have so many been so ready to be so impressed by the prospect of absolutely nothing: but that is our fervent hope and prayer Mr President. In this instance all you have to do to make a real difference is to do absolutely nothing at all.
Allow the flowering of a rational appreciation of this commonplace herb.
Allow the rediscovering of HEMP as an industrial input.
Allow cannabis seed meal and oil to be used for human consumption
Allow the people of the earth to use cannabis as they have for thousands of years
Allow the world to discover that there will be no negative consequences from re-legalisation!
We ask only for time and to be left alone.
Please Mr President
please do nothing at all.
Signed
cannabis users of the world
